Tips for Storing Summer Recreational Gear

There are so many fun things to do in the OKC area during the Summer. From biking to tubing to paddleboarding, there’s endless fun to be had. But once the weather starts to cool and you no longer need to use that recreational gear, it needs to be stored in a way that doesn’t feel cluttered. Here are some ways you can store your recreational gear in an efficient manner.

Hang Bikes on the Ceiling

Reclaim your garage by looking upwards. Bikes can easily crowd a garage and make it difficult to walk around but hanging them on the ceiling is a great way to clear up space. J-hooks or pulley systems make it easy to store bikes when not in use, but also easy to retrieve when you want to take them for a spin as well.

Install a Board Rack

If you have a lot of recreational boards like longboards, wakeboards, or snowboards, your garage will benefit from a specialty board rack. This will get all those boards off the floor or out of the corner and neatly stored on the wall instead.

Utilize a Pegboard

If you really want to take your gear organization to the next level, a pegboard is your answer. Hooks, holders, and shelves can all be assembled on a pegboard for easy storage solutions. Just make sure to securely install the pegboard so that it does not fall over when loaded up.

Set Up Metal Racks

If you want to skip having to install anything, setting up a metal rack or two is the way to go. Freestanding metal racks offer a ton of storage and can easily be moved around if needed.

Don’t Forget to Clean Your Gear

Don’t neglect to clean your gear before you put it away for the season. Cleaning your gear will keep rust, mold, and mildew at bay and it will also keep it in good condition for longer.

To sum things up, don’t let recreational gear overwhelm you in the off season. Try out some of these storage solutions to clear up clutter. And if you are in the market for a home with lots of storage space, look no further than McCaleb Homes!
